The term in the AGM Batteries (Absorbent Glass Mat) means absorbent fiberglass mesh. The electrolyte is absorbed in a fiberglass mesh between the plates by capillary action. The main features of AGM batteries are:
Low self-discharge, can be stored for long periods of time without recharging.
Low internal resistance, accept very high load and discharge currents. Large number of cycles: More than 2000 cycles at 30% discharge.
VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead-Acid Batteries; lead-acid batteries regulated by valves) therefore without maintenance or gas leakage.
AGM Batteries do not have maintenance.
What makes them ideal in applications of high current demand, such as starting engines and traction vehicles that need high current peaks: caravans, quads, jet skis, pallet trucks, golf carts, etc.
