MPPT or PWM?
What is a regulator?
It is a device in charge of controlling the flow of energy between the photovoltaic field and the batteries.
MPPT
An MPPT Regulator is an energy controller between the photovoltaic field and the batteries. With this type of regulator, greater performance is obtained from the photovoltaic modules since it makes them work at maximum power. It also allows the possibility of adding more panels in series. with a voltage higher than the battery bank.
The only drawback we found in these regulators is that they are a little more expensive and somewhat larger in size.
These are more convenient for installations with 60-cell panels or a high photovoltaic field, they help better maintain the batteries since they have advanced algorithms to charge and protect them.
A PWM Regulator is an energy controller between the solar panels and the batteries. PWM regulators are recommended for small solar installations.
We offer solar regulators from the best brands so that you have perfect control of your solar installation and battery charge regulator. We have regulators with information via display screen, as well as PWM type regulators for basic and medium-sized installations.
For voltages of 12 and 24 volts, necessary to control the charging and discharging of a battery or accumulator within a solar installation.
What solar regulator do I need depending on the type of solar panel?
Normal regulator (PWM): Whether you have 12V solar panels to use in an isolated (or autonomous) 12V solar installation, or if you have 24V solar panels and 72 cells to use in a 24V installation, you must use a normal regulator (PWM type). Which is the most economical and suitable for this type of solar panel.
Maximizing regulator (MPPT): If you have 24V and 60-cell solar panels (plates with a power greater than 200W), to use in a 24V isolated solar installation, you must use an MPPT maximizing regulator. Necessary to amplify the voltage of these solar panels, so that when it reaches the batteries it is high and the energy is stored well. The MPPT regulator is more expensive but is necessary with this type of plates. Which without the use of MPPT, the useful life of the batteries would be damaged since they could not be equalized and would sulfate in a few months.
